Less than a month after Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce tied the knot at a lavish wedding in Madison Square Garden, singer Pat Monahan revealed he was “blown away.” In a recent interview, the “Train” lead singer shared his thoughts about the white-veil occasion.

In an interview with E! News, Pat Monahan opened up about attending Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift‘s wedding. He said, “I think my invitation was just due to having a connection with her at one point in her life and I was very honored to be there. I was blown away with how incredible and beautiful it was. So glad that she and Travis found each other ‘cause I think they’re a really beautiful, connected couple of people.”
Monahan and Swift’s friendship goes way back. He made a guest appearance to perform Drive By with the Grammy winner on the Red tour in 2013. The duo also collaborated on the track Babe from Red (Taylor’s Version). Reflecting on their friendship, he said, “Taylor and I, we met several times and then she asked if I would write a song with her and it was a really lovely experience. I think she’s one of the smartest people I’ve been around—and talented.”
Despite not being in touch with Swift much lately, Monahan was one of the invitees on the songstress’ 1000-person guest list. Elsewhere, in the interview, he said his son’s growing interest in music reminded him of Swift’s journey as a musician.
He said, “Like Taylor Swift, he’s 14. Their beginnings are different. She was driven by songwriting, he’s driven by guitar and singing. He wants to be a shredder. He understands songwriting. I think that would be the next step for him.” Swift and Kelce’s first public appearance after their marriage came earlier this month at Juju Smith-Schuster and Laura Kruk’s wedding.
