Meghan Markle Escaped ‘Ridicule’ in UK With This Move — Expert

Meghan Markle stayed away from the public eye during her recent U.K. trip. Now, an expert believes that decision worked in her favor. While Prince Harry carried out public engagements, the Duchess of Sussex reportedly chose to spend her time in Britain privately with her family instead. According to the brand expert, that low-key approach may have helped the couple avoid criticism while shifting the focus away from unnecessary public scrutiny.

Meghan Markle’s decision to ‘keep a low profile’ worked in favor of her and Prince Harry in UK, per expert

Meghan Markle returned to Britain earlier this month with Prince Harry, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet. However, unlike Harry, who was seen attending public engagements throughout the week, Markle allegedly remained away from the public eye.

Initially, many expected the duchess to appear alongside her husband. However, those expectations reportedly changed after it emerged that the family would not receive taxpayer-funded armed police protection during the visit. Even so, brand and culture expert Nick Ede believes the decision ultimately benefited the Sussexes.

Speaking to the Daily Express, Ede said it was “actually a good thing” that Markle avoided making high-profile appearances. He argued that “keeping a low profile works really well for the two of them,” as it limits the level of public scrutiny they often face.

Furthermore, he suggested the move helped Markle personally. “It stops them being scrutinised relentlessly,” Ede said. The expert then claimed it also gives Markle the chance “to build her reputation and life back,” instead of attending public events where she could be “open for ridicule.”

It is understood that the Duchess of Sussex focused on spending time with family behind closed doors. Although she did not undertake any public engagements, reports suggest she accompanied Harry and their children during several private visits.

For instance, the family is said to have reunited with King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove. They also allegedly visited Harry’s uncle, Earl Charles Spencer, at Althorp House, the ancestral home of the late Princess Diana. However, no official photographs from either gathering have been released.

Meanwhile, the trip marked Markle’s first visit to Britain since 2022. As a result, interest in the Sussexes remained high even without public appearances. Yet, Ede believes that may have been exactly why the strategy worked.
