King Charles reportedly could plan another huge blow to ex-Prince Andrew. The king’s younger brother was stripped of his royal titles following several controversies. Now, as per a source, the monarch might make another “uncomfortable” move against the former Duke of York.
King Charles might disclose ex-Prince Andrews’ finances, sources claim
According to RadarOnline, King Charles is facing pressure to expose ex-Prince Andrew’s finances. Buckingham Palace reportedly indicated that this could reveal details of the income from subletting cottages on the Royal Lodge estate. Critics told the outlet that this step could bring further embarrassment to the former royal. Charles’ treasurer allegedly told British MPs this week the Royal Household can get and provide information about Andrew’s income on a formal request.
The disclosure focuses on a detailed examination of an arrangement allowing Andrew to sublet three cottages at Royal Lodge in Windsor. The sublet reportedly happened while Andrew paid only “peppercorn rent” for the property under a lease agreed with the Crown Estate in 2004. However, the agreement concluded when Andrew left the Royal Lodge.
“There is growing pressure for complete transparency over Andrew’s financial arrangements,” one royal source shared. “If Parliament asks for the figures, there appears to be little appetite to withhold them.” Another insider said, “Making the details public would inevitably be uncomfortable for Andrew, but many believe openness is now the only way to answer persistent questions about the deal.” The individual added, “It will be another huge blow from Charles to Andrew.”
Andrew’s lease was reportedly negotiated with an understanding that he would spend approximately $10.1 million on renovations. Thus, his premium payment was down to almost $1.35 million, and he paid only a “peppercorn rent.”
While the exact amount received by Andrew was never disclosed, Dan Labbad, Crown Estate chief executive, defended the arrangement. He called it the best value of that time. Labour MP Clive Betts questioned the exact amount earned by Andrew, but Labbad shared that the Estate did not hold the figure. While critics have demanded answers on the arrangements, only time will tell if the ex-royal will face another blow.
