A MasterChef contestant conveyed his take on Meghan Markle after she judged his food. The Duchess of Sussex appeared as a celebrity guest on MasterChef Australia, which was recorded in April when the Sussexes visited the country. Markle’s episode aired on July 26, which was part of the first episode of finals week.

Prior to Meghan Markle’s MasterChef Australia appearance, a contestant revealed his thoughts on the Duchess of Sussex. According to the Daily Express, MasterChef Australia had previously aired a brief preview of Sunday’s episode, where contestants were seen gushing over the Suits alum.
Contestant Petro Papathomas reacted to seeing Markle in one word: “Starstruck.” He told TV Week, “She was really genuine. There’s been so much written about her, you kind of don’t know what to believe, but I loved her. She was so kind and talks really intelligently about food as well.”
Another contestant, Casper Kenworthy, echoed Papathomas’ words and shared that the Duchess of Sussex was one of his favourite judges. Kenworthy revealed how Markle took a keen interest in what the contestants were making and wanted to talk to them.
Markle reportedly gushed over her joint love for Australia and food and revealed that when she was invited on, “It was an easy yes.” The duchess said, “It’s such a great show. I’m just really honoured that I was asked to be able to be here with you and to be able to judge some of these meals.”
In the episode, Markle presented the contestants with a formidable challenge. She asked the competitors to prepare a unique dish featuring carrots, Brussels sprouts, Jerusalem artichokes, celeriac, lemons, and honey. Furthermore, Markle expressed her love for the ingredients she chose, revealing they “feel really nostalgic.” She also added that she would “love it” if the contestants could connect a story to the dishes they prepare.
The Suits star remarked, “Food and cooking to me is really a love language. I think it’s such a great way to connect. It’s something that can feel sentimental and meaningful, and it’s how I show my nurturing and love for my friends, family, and my kids.”
