Iran just issued a chilling warning to the Royal British Family that has the entire UK on edge. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps apparently released a threatening statement directed at the British monarchy and UK military bases amid escalating tensions.
Iran reportedly sent a warning to UK amid war tensions
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a direct warning to the British monarchy and threatened UK military bases, the Daily Mirror reported on Wednesday. The IRGC claimed US B-1 bombers launched a mission from RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire against Iranian targets. The statement declared that “any base used to invade Iranian territory is our legitimate target.”
The IRGC also released a threat titled “Warning to the British monarchy.” It accused the British crown of “dividing Islamic countries, widespread massacres, imposing authoritarian governments.” The statement urged the monarchy “not to burden its case any further” by supporting American military operations against Tehran.
RAF Fairford primarily serves as a European forward base for the US Air Force. The base houses heavy bombers on standby for Middle East missions. According to US news website Axios, a B-1 bomber capable of carrying two dozen 2,000lb bombs took off from the base on Tuesday.
Former PM Keir Starmer first allowed RAF Fairford’s use for “defensive” strikes against Iranian forces in March. Current PM Andy Burnham received notification about extending the existing agreement for US use of UK bases. An anti-war protest took place at RAF Fairford in April.
A UK government spokesperson responded firmly to the IRGC threat. “Our Armed Forces are ready to keep the United Kingdom safe from any kind of attacks, whether it’s on our soil or from abroad,” the spokesperson stated. The government added that the UK operates “a layered approach to air and missile defence” alongside NATO allies.
Meanwhile, Iran-aligned Houthis struck two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea on Wednesday. The group announced a blockade of the Bab al-Mandab Strait, pushing oil prices above $100 a barrel for the first time since May. Buckingham Palace has not yet made any comment on the IRGC statement.
