In a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Zohran Mamdani shared his reaction to Donald Trump often complimenting his looks. Interviewer Jack Crosbie asked the New York City mayor, “What do you think about him constantly saying how handsome you are?” Mamdani let out a chuckle and was unsure of what to make of the compliment. Appearing to blush, the mayor said, “Thank you?” with a quizzical expression.

One of Trump’s most recent remarks about Mamdani’s appearance came last month during a media conference at the White House. Speaking with reporters, the president called Mamdani “a charming guy, good-looking guy.”

During his interview with Rolling Stone, Mamdani weighed in on a plethora of important political issues. At one point, the NYC mayor was asked about his stance on Israel and Gaza. “My politics is one that has no exception,” Mamdani stated.

He added, “When I’m speaking about the importance of dignity and international law and human rights, I speak about that with an application to everyone. And for a long time, what we’ve seen — both in the city and across the country — is a willingness to exempt Palestinians from those ideals. And the more willing you are to cut anyone out of a conviction, the more likely you are to lose that conviction altogether.”

Mamdani also defended Darializa Avila Chevalier, the Democratic candidate for New York’s 13th congressional district, who came under fire for a now-deleted 2021 tweet, “F–k Kamala Harris.” Discussing her primary victory, Mamdani called the public criticism of her “blatant racism.” He further said it “was an attempt to distract from the fact that Darializa would deliver on exactly that vision for those same working people.”
