The Hunger Games and Catching Fire join Netflix’s top 10 streaming charts
The Hunger Games and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire have entered Netflix’s top 10 movies chart in the United States. FlixPatrol data from July 22, 2026, shows The Hunger Games sitting at No. 5 on the list. Catching Fire debuted at No. 7 on the same day.
Both films star Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, a tribute forced to fight for survival. Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth also star as Peeta Mellark and Gale Hawthorne respectively. Gary Ross directed the first film, while Francis Lawrence helmed Catching Fire and subsequent sequels.
The franchise’s return to streaming charts arrives ahead of a major new installment. Lionsgate has The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping scheduled for release on November 20, 2026. Francis Lawrence returns to direct the prequel film, which depicts the 2nd Quarter Quell in Panem.
Sunrise on the Reaping takes place forty years after The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. It also unfolds twenty-four years before the events of the original Hunger Games film. Ralph Fiennes plays an older Coriolanus Snow, while Josh Hutcherson reprises his role as Peeta Mellark. Elle Fanning and Kieran Culkin join the cast as Effie Trinket and Caesar Flickerman. Joseph Zada and Woody Harrelson both portray Haymitch Abernathy in the upcoming film.
The Hunger Games franchise has grossed over $3.3 billion worldwide across five films to date. The original film earned $695 million globally, while Catching Fire became the highest earner at $865 million. Catching Fire also holds the record for the biggest November opening weekend. Meanwhile, Netflix’s current top 10 also features Ordinary Angels at No. 1 and Wicked: For Good at No. 3.
