Brie Larson’s underrated R-rated comedy Free Fire will soon be leaving Netflix. According to What’s on Netflix, the film is scheduled to exit the streaming service on August 11, 2026, giving subscribers a limited window to watch it before it is removed from the platform.
Directed by Ben Wheatley, Free Fire was released in the United Kingdom on March 31, 2017. Set in Boston in 1978, the film centers on a high-stakes weapons exchange that goes disastrously wrong inside an abandoned warehouse.
A simple meeting between gun dealers and buyers quickly falls apart when unresolved tensions between members of the two groups erupt into violence.
With no easy escape and bullets flying from every direction, those involved are forced to fight for survival. Meanwhile, Justine, the broker who arranged the meeting, struggles to survive amid the chaos.
The film stars Larson as Justine, Cillian Murphy as Chris, Armie Hammer as Ord, Sharlto Copley as Vernon, Jack Reynor as Harry, Babou Ceesay as Martin, Sam Riley as Stevo, Michael Smiley as Frank, Enzo Cilenti as Bernie, and Noah Taylor as Gordon, among others.
Upon release, Free Fire earned a generally mixed response from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a 69 percent critics’ score based on 236 reviews. Audience response proved more divided, with the film receiving a 52 percent audience score on the platform.
