Luke Wilson and Vanessa Hudgens join new R-rated comedy Mini War

Luke Wilson and Vanessa Hudgens have officially signed on to star in Mini War, a new R-rated comedy that reunites several of the creative forces behind the cult hit Grandma’s Boy. According to Deadline, the project is written by Nick Swardson, Allen Covert, and Joel David Moore, with Moore also directing. The collaboration brings the trio back together nearly two decades after Grandma’s Boy developed a loyal following.

Wilson will headline the film as Joe, whose life takes an unexpected turn after inheriting his late uncle’s miniature golf course. Hoping to move on with his life, Joe seeks a buyer willing to preserve it. Darren (played by Nick Swardson), the owner of the neighboring go-kart track, complicates those plans. He wants to acquire the property and replace it with an expansion of his racing business.

Hudgens portrays Olivia, the owner of a roadside hot-dog stand between the two competing businesses. As Joe and Darren’s disagreement grows into a full-scale feud, Olivia and the town’s residents find themselves pulled into the conflict.

Behind the camera, Moore is directing and producing the film through Balcony 9 Productions, alongside Jarod Einsohn and Limor Hakim of Level 1 Entertainment. The production also reunites the producers of Grandma’s Boy, Bill Todman Jr. and Edward Milstein, with David Wachs and Ojan Missaghi representing Toric Films.

Garrett Jason Greer, Casey James, Natalie Kline, Richard Lunam, Masha Lunam, Sharon Azrieli, Syed Ali Saeed, Cassandra Scerbo, James Macmillan, Raymond Merrill, Carmelo Chimera, Michael Laundon, and Michael Bassick further support the production as executive producers.

The creators have not yet announced an official release date for Mini War.
