Anne Hathaway feared Christopher Nolan was done casting her
During a conversation on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the host acknowledged how The Odyssey is Hathaway’s third film with Nolan and how “gratifying” it must be when he reaches out to sign her for his movies. He noted that no one would say no to a Nolan film and thinks it’s nice when an actor gets called back for another project, despite the director having several options when casting his films.
Reflecting on getting her third opportunity, Hathaway said, “Oh, my gosh. It’s amazing. It’s incredible. And I got so lucky because I made The Dark Knight Rises with him when I was in my late 20s… And then, you know, we made Interstellar.”
She revealed that she loves Interstellar so much and how “beautiful” a film it is. Further, The Intern actress also jokingly said that she was not in a couple of films Nolan made after Interstellar. Sharing what she feared could be the reason for not being called for another movie at the time, she added, “And so I was like, ‘I hope I didn’t say anything while we were in space. But we would see each other; everything would be cool. And then, yeah, I got the call.”
The Devil Wears Prada actress revealed the “amazing” experience on the set while praising the director for his brilliance. “And I think… what I saw on The Odyssey in particular was, he built the movie with his mind, and then he directed it while we were there with his heart,” she added.
