The star-studded cast of The Odyssey has revealed the Christopher Nolan movies they find best to preserve for the coming generations. Their picks surprisingly excluded some obvious choices. In a recent interview, Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, and more shared their picks from Nolan’s accredited filmography that carry the most influence and shockingly left out the likes of Interstellar, Oppenheimer, as well as the Dark Knight trilogy.
The Odyssey cast reveals Christopher Nolan movies they’d pass on to future generations
While speaking with Comic Book Resources‘ Rachel Leishman, Anne Hathaway, who will appear as Penelope in The Odyssey, noted that she’d pass down Nolan’s feature directorial debut instead of his other fan-favorite titles.
“I’m going to go with Following,” the Dark Knight Rises star stated. “Something about it just reminds me of what we were trying to do: looking back to a text that’s so old, and gleaning all the ways that we’ve been formed because of it, and all the ways that the ideas have expanded and are still true. So that’s what came to mind for me.”
On the other hand, Matt Damon, who is leading The Odyssey cast as legendary Greek king Odysseus, revealed that his pick out of all the Christopher Nolan movies would be The Prestige. Pointing towards Leishman’s Prestige-themed T-shirt, Damon said, “Because you’re wearing the shirt, I’ll go with The Prestige, and I’ll use a different reason. It’s because I remember watching that movie, and I think I watched it three days in a row. And very much like The Odyssey, people return to it, and every time they watch it, they get something else out of it. I felt that way about that movie.”
Meanwhile, Jon Bernthal and Lupita Nyong’o had a straightforward answer for Leishman as the former chose all of the filmmaker’s movies and the latter went with The Odyssey without any hesitation.
Also featuring Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, and Benny Safdie, among others in the cast, The Odyssey comes out in theaters on July 17.
