Queen Elizabeth II Would Have Seen King Charles’ ‘Woke’ Reign as a ‘Disaster’ — Former Chaplain

Queen Elizabeth II’s former Chaplain revealed that the late Queen would have considered her son King Charles’ woke reign a disaster. The former Chaplain, Dr. Gavin Ashenden, appeared on the podcast The Karl Stefanovic Show on Tuesday, July 7. Ashenden was critical of the King and did not mince his words. For those unversed, Queen Elizabeth passed away in September 2022 at age 96. Her son was then crowned the King as her successor.

Former royal chaplain Gavin Ashenden blasts King Charles’ approach to faith

Queen Elizabeth II’s former Chaplain criticized her son, King Charles, on The Karl Stefanovic Show. Ashenden slammed Charles’s decision to abandon the label of Defender of the Faith, used by the royal family since the 16th century. Instead, the 77-year-old monarch replaced it with “Supreme Governor of the Church of England and protects the space for Faith within the multi-faith nation.”

Ashenden did not hold back when he said: “Evidently, we have a woke King. Coincidentally, we have a King who can’t think straight despite having had the best possible education.”

Expanding further, the former Chaplain shared: “He has got caught up in something that pleases him, which is the idea that all religions and all spiritual realities are of equal value. And if you can somehow mix them together, it’s good for society. There’s no evidence in history of this at all.”

The podcast host pressed Ashenden to reveal what the late Queen Elizabeth would have thought of Charles’s reign. He was quick to answer, saying: “I think she would know it’s a disaster. She was a very intelligent, alert woman, full of integrity.”

Ashenden then went on to praise the former monarch, stating: “I think one of the reasons we loved her is that we felt that we were dealing with a woman of integrity. When the world is run by people with integrity, the world is safe. We loved her because she was a model of how this thing needs to be done.”

The 72-year-old then drew parallels between the mother and son. In a disappointed tone, he confessed that “unfortunately Charles is just falling short of what’s expected of a King.”
