Charli XCX’s New Album Includes an Unexpected Director Collaboration

Charli XCX just made her new era even more intriguing. The pop star revealed the tracklist for her upcoming album, Music, Fashion, Film, and one name immediately caught fans’ attention. It was not another pop star. Instead, it was acclaimed filmmaker David Cronenberg.

The pop star bridges the worlds of music, fashion, and cinema by recruiting an iconic filmmaker for her upcoming project

Charli XCX shared the full tracklist for Music, Fashion, Film on Instagram, giving fans a closer look at what to expect from her next project. The album features 11 tracks and is set to arrive on July 24.

The biggest surprise comes at the end of the tracklist. The final song, “No One Lasts Forever,” features David Cronenberg, the filmmaker behind cult classics such as The Fly, Crash, and Videodrome. The unexpected collaboration quickly caught fans’ attention.

The Charli XCX new album already has a strong connection to the world of film. Its title references music, fashion, and cinema, while the album cover features John Cale, Marc Jacobs, and Martin Scorsese. As a result, Cronenberg’s appearance fits naturally within the project’s creative direction.

According to Stereogum Charli recently teased the album’s mystery guest during a French television interview. She said the record included one collaboration and joked that fans would not be able to guess the featured artist.

The tracklist also includes previously released songs such as “Rock Music,” “SS26,” and “Wink Wink.” Other tracks include “Card Declined,” “Camera,” “2007,” “I’m Afraid,” “Yeah,” “Persona,” and “Magic Metal Montana.”

The collaboration with Cronenberg suggests Charli XCX is taking a different creative direction with this project rather than revisiting Brat. The album appears to continue blending music with cinematic influences in a distinctive way.

Fans are now waiting to see what role Cronenberg plays on “No One Lasts Forever.” Whether it is a spoken-word appearance or another creative contribution remains to be seen.
