The upcoming comedy series Alley Cats, featuring Ricky Gervais, is all set to release on Netflix soon. Apart from Gervais, the other actors lending their voices to the animated series include Andrew Brooke, Tom Basden, Kerry Godliman, David Earl, and Diane Morgan, among others.
Alley Cats to stream on Netflix next month
Ricky Gervais’ Alley Cats is going to arrive on Netflix on August 7. 2026. It is a six-part animated series from Blink Industries and director Elliot Dear.
Netflix has released a trailer for the animated series on YouTube, which describes the show as “an adult comedy animation series from the razor-sharp mind of Ricky Gervais.” The description adds that it “follows a gang of foul-mouthed feral cats who cause havoc while musing on the meaning of life and fighting for survival in a brutal human world.” The group of cats in the series is called Annecy, and they indulge in discussions on numerous real-world topics. They also team up to fight against a kid.
The series will mark Gervais’ return to the role of creatively heading a TV show after his work on the award-winning comedy-drama series After Life. While speaking about the series in a conversation with Variety, Gervais said, “I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited about a trailer. I can’t wait for everyone to get to know these cats.” He also described the Netflix project as a “slacker sitcom.”
Gervais also spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about playing the cat Tabby Gus. He said, “I don’t have to do hair and makeup; I don’t have to get up early. The cats never get old. So as I get older and fatter, I can still sit in a chair and continue to make this forever.” The tagline for the series is “Nine lives, zero f***s.”
