Fresh rumors hint at a grim fate for two longtime Marvel heroes in Avengers: Doomsday. Fans are already debating what the reported deaths could mean for the MCU. A well-known scooper claims two familiar Marvel characters could meet shocking ends in the upcoming blockbuster, and the rumored plot details have already divided fans ahead of the film’s 2026 release.
Loki and Ant-Man rumored to be in grave danger in Avengers: Doomsday
According to scooper MyTimeToShineHello, Loki’s journey as the God of Stories may end in Avengers: Doomsday. The insider claimed the character is “reportedly killed off-screen” by Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. While Marvel has not confirmed the report, the rumor has quickly gained traction across social media.
Another rumored plot point centers on Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man. Blue Minutes posted on X (formerly Twitter) that Ant-Man “kicked one of the Sentinels” before dying, with Cassie Lang and her team ending up in the Quantum Realm as part of a resistance group. MyTimeToShineHello later reposted the claim and added, “Yup that is true. His role in Doomsday is insane.”
The reports have drawn mixed reactions from fans. One user wrote, “I think Ant-Man should not die and lead the new pack of Avengers in mutant saga.” Others questioned whether Marvel would revisit the Quantum Realm again, with one fan asking, “Would they repeat the old ‘stuck in the Quantum Zone’ gimmick?” Another shared his view on Loki’s death, posting, “That would get a lot of hate. There is no way they’re gonna disrespect Loki again.”
Additional comments included, “I think this would’ve been a solid way to start the movie or to use the post-credit scene for the re-release for Endgame. But no, let’s have it happen off-screen.” Talking about Ant-Man, one fan posted, “Yellowjacket Scott Lang mildly confirmed for Secret Wars!”
Marvel has already confirmed a massive cast for the upcoming Avengers outing. Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Vanessa Kirby, Paul Rudd, Florence Pugh, Simu Liu, Letitia Wright, Sebastian Stan, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Pedro Pascal and Robert Downey Jr. are among the stars set to appear. Downey will make his appearance as Victor Von Doom in Avengers: Doomsday, better known as Doctor Doom, while the Russo brothers are keeping production under tight wraps to avoid spoilers.
It is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18.
