JD Vance‘s latest dig at former president Joe Biden misfired spectacularly as he failed to draw any laughs from the audience for his joke. While addressing naval troops at a recent conference, the vice president tried to ridicule Biden for having stumbled during official events on multiple occasions, but did not get the response he was aiming for.
JD Vance jokes about Joe Biden falling in new speech
On July 1, during his speech at the Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, JD Vance made an unsuccessful attempt at mocking Joe Biden for his tendency to fall down at major events.
“It’s amazing to be here. You know what I’m thinking as I’m coming down the steps is ‘don’t fall and bust your a**’ in front of all you and in front of all these cameras because they would never let me live that one down, you know,” the former Ohio Senator quipped, as seen in the clip shared by journalist Aaron Rupar.
He continued, “You know, the previous president — I’m trying to be nonpartisan — you ever seen these old cartoons where you got the angel on the shoulder and the devil on the shoulder? Well, because I’m speaking to all of you, our great patriots and service members, I’ve got the angel on my shoulder saying, ‘J.D., don’t be partisan! We’re gonna make this nonpartisan!”
JD Vance then doubled down on his joke about Joe Biden, stating, “And then I’ve got the devil on my shoulder who wants to talk about every time that Joe Biden fell up or down the stairs. And the media didn’t care about that! But if I did it one time, if I did it one time, it would be a major, major story.”
However, the vice president received little to no recognition for his joke, with the troops mostly remaining silent after hearing Vance’s remark.
