Prince Harry and Prince William are unlikely to repair their fractured relationship anytime soon, according to a royal expert. The latest assessment comes as renewed attention falls on the brothers’ long-running estrangement. Prince Harry’s upcoming UK trip may not change the fact.
Expert sees no chance of reconciliation between Prince Harry and Prince William
Speaking on ITV’s Loose Women, The Mirror’s royal editor Russell Myers discussed the relationship between William, the Prince of Wales, and Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex. This comes on what would have been Princess Diana’s 65th birthday. According to Myers, the divide between William and Harry has reached its lowest point, leaving little room for optimism about a future reconciliation. While he believes there is some willingness to improve Harry’s relationship with King Charles III, he argued that the same cannot be said for the Prince of Wales.
Myers said, “Make no mistake, their relationship is the worst it has ever been, and I don’t see any chance of a reconciliation.” He added that Prince Harry has spoken publicly about wanting to repair his relationship with his father, the King, and believes both sides are willing to work on that relationship. Myers said William, Kate Middleton, and other senior members of the Royal Family continue to feel deeply hurt by Harry’s public comments about the monarchy over the past several years.
The rift between the brothers has continued since Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from royal duties in 2020. In the years that followed, Harry publicly discussed his experiences within the Royal Family during the couple’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, the Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, and his memoir Spare. Those projects included several claims about life inside the monarchy and the palace.
William and Harry last appeared together publicly in 2022 during the funeral of their grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. Since then, there has been little indication that their relationship has improved.
