NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani is expected to speak at America’s 250th birthday event on Friday. According to the latest reports, Mamdani’s address will come just hours before President Donald Trump’s speech in South Dakota.

Zohran Mamdani set to give a speech on America’s 250th birthday, report claims

Speaking with CBS News New York’s Marcia Kramer, multiple sources have said that New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani is set to give a speech in front of the George Washington desk at City Hall on Friday morning. The event will mark the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence.

Mamdani will speak with a crowd of recently naturalized citizens. The NYC Mayor, who was born in Kampala, Uganda, moved to New York City when he was seven years old. Since Mamdani is a naturalized American citizen himself, the event is of personal importance to him. Sources have further said that Mamdani is set to speak at City Hall just hours before President Donald Trump delivers his America 250 address at the Mount Rushmore National Memorial in South Dakota.

The report comes just days after the Supreme Court rejected Trump’s executive order aiming to declare that children born in the United States to undocumented immigrants are not American citizens. Chief Justice John Roberts struck down the order in a 6-3 decision.

The judge ruled that under the 14th Amendment, children born in the U.S. “to parents unlawfully or temporarily present” are “citizens at birth.” The 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution states that “all persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States.”

The ruling has sparked backlash from conservative justices, but has been celebrated by civil rights groups. Trump addressed it on his Truth Social, stating, “The Supreme Court upheld Birthright Citizenship, which is too bad for our Country.” He then declared, “But we can easily make it up in Congress through Legislation, with the support of the President, that has now been determined during this process.”
