Stephen Colbert’s ‘Late Show’ Sign Ended up at This Unexpected New Place

The sign from Stephen Colbert’s Late Show has found a new home at WeHo, a West Hollywood bistro. After 33 years on CBS, The Late Show franchise came to a close with its final episode on May 21, 2026. Colbert ended his 11-year tenure as host, and the network permanently retired the program, which launched in 1993 with David Letterman.

Here’s what happened with Stephen Colbert’s Late Show sign

The sign from The Late Show with Stephen Colbert now sits atop a restaurant. CBS auctioned off the decorative light fixture in April after ending one of U.S. television’s longest-running late-night franchises.

In April, Colbert listed the sign for auction on-air during a “Late Show Home Shopping” bit featuring guest Jon Stewart. “Buy this,” he quipped. “And, like me, you can have The Late Show hanging over your head for the rest of your life.”

Jeff Douek, who owns WeHo Bistro, bought the sign for $102,100. He had it mounted on the roof of his West Hollywood, California restaurant this week. The marquee measures 12 feet long, 8 feet 6 inches tall, and 9 inches deep.

In a social media update, he revealed the installation. Staff could also be seen putting up a banner that reads, “Thank you Stephen Colbert for all the magic.”

Douek announced the sign’s new location in an Instagram post. “For more than a decade, millions of people welcomed Stephen Colbert into their evenings through The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” the caption read. “The iconic sign that welcomed viewers to so many unforgettable nights has now found a new home right here in the heart of West Hollywood.”

Douek ended his post with gratitude toward Stephen Colbert. He praised the laughter, intelligence, kindness, and magic Colbert shared throughout his run.

Douek noted that the decision to keep the sign visible came after he heard the auction money would benefit World Central Kitchen. According to Late Nighter, the marquee received 170 bids. Douek added that it’ll remain on the roof for about two weeks, then relocate to its long-term place inside the restaurant.
