RFK Jr.’s Recent Comment on WWE Fights Raises Eyebrows

RFK Jr. makes unexpected comment about WWE fights

In a Monday interview with NewsNation, HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. weighed in on the re-establishment of the Presidential Fitness Test for students. At one point during the discussion, Kennedy made a surprising remark about WWE, prompting netizens to question whether he knows the show is scripted.

President Donald Trump recently signed an executive order to bring back the Presidential Fitness Test for students. The test was replaced with a separate program during former President Barack Obama’s term.

Interviewer Anna Kooiman asked Kennedy whether he thought that discontinuing the test was a mistake. The HHS Secretary replied, “I think it was a huge mistake [to end the Presidential Fitness Test]. I mean, look at our kids, we literally have the sickest population in the world.”

Kooiman then noted that the previous test sparked criticism for damaging the self-esteem of students who “weren’t physically inclined.” When she asked how the new program would address the issue, Kennedy said, “Failure is a part of life.”

He then stated, “Listen, the great thing about WWE, that’s so inspiring, is all of these guys have failed. Every one of them has lost fights. The trick is, how do you persuade yourself to stand back up and fight again?”

The remark has raised questions about whether Kennedy is aware of the scripted nature of WWE. Although the popular wrestling promotion involves real physical performance, it famously features previously planned storylines and matches. Netizens took to social media to mock Kennedy for thinking that the fights are real.

WWE chief content officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque, who has scripted storylines in the promotion, was recently appointed Vice Chair of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition. Speaking with NewsNation, he said that the new test is about “rewarding effort, not just the upper end of success.”
