Sophie Thatcher‘s Her Private Hell trailer is here, and it’s incredibly dark. The upcoming sci-fi thriller is directed by Nicolas Winding Refn.
Her Private Hell’s official synopsis reads, “When a mysterious mist engulfs a futuristic metropolis, unleashing a deadly and elusive entity, a troubled young woman searches for her father. Her quest collides with an American GI on a harrowing odyssey to rescue his daughter from Hell.”

What do we see in the Her Private Hell trailer?
The neon-drenched trailer for Her Private Hell shows a mysterious figure stalking and brutally killing people inside a futuristic metropolis.
Sophie Thatcher, best known for Yellowjackets and Heretic, plays a character named Elle. Charles Melton (Beef, Riverdale, Warfare) portrays an American GI named Private K.
Thatcher was most recently seen in the movie Companion. The 2025 horror-comedy film also starred The Boys actor Jack Quaid and was hit with both critics and audiences. It currently holds a stellar Tomatometer score of 93% and a fantastic Popcornmeter score of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Her Private Hell’s ensemble cast also includes Havana Rose Liu, Kristine Froseth, Shioli Kutsuna, Aoi Yamada, Diego Calva, Dougray Scott, and Hidetoshi Nishijima.
Director Winding Refn also serves as a producer on Neon’s Her Private Hell. Although there’s still time before its release, early word of mouth for the sci-fi thriller appears to be weak.
A few weeks back, the early reactions from critics came out, and they are not very promising at all. At the time of writing, Her Private Hell currently holds a poor Tomatometer score of just 43%, based on 28 critic reviews, on Rotten Tomatoes. This negative early reception could hurt the movie’s box office performance.
Her Private Hell will release in theaters on July 24, 2026.
