Black Panther 3 will tell a very different story from its predecessors, claims a new rumor. The upcoming installment will be helmed by Ryan Coogler, who also directed the first two films.
What is the Black Panther 3 update?
According to insider Alex Perez, Black Panther 3 may lean heavily into supernatural elements. Specifically, the film could feature more of the Ancestral Plane and mutants.
During a Q&A for The Cosmic Circus, Perez also claimed that Black Panther 3 could be a coming-of-age story for Shuri. He also claimed that the film will feature the original Black Panther’s son, aka T’Challa Jr. Per the scooper, “he’ll just be called T’Challa moving forward.”
Perez also claimed that the film will focus heavily on “legacy and what it means for T’Challa to inherit the title of Black Panther.” According to the rumor, Nakia will oppose her son inheriting the throne and becoming the Black Panther.

However, this should be taken with a grain of salt until Marvel Studios officially confirms any details about Black Panther 3.
Still, the latest rumor somehow aligns with a previous leak that mentioned familiar elements such as the concept of the supernatural. A few months ago, another insider, James Mack, claimed that Black Panther 3 would involve aliens while also being a “starting point for the cosmic arc” in the MCU.
Last year, there was another rumor regarding the casting of the next Black Panther. Another reliable scooper, Jeff Sneider, had speculated that actor David Johnson was being eyed to play Black Panther moving forward in the MCU. Johnson is best known for appearing in Alien: Romulus.
But again, these are all just speculations for now. Marvel has yet to provide an official update on the third Black Panther film.
Black Panther 3 has yet to receive an official release date window. Several rumors, however, claim that it may arrive in February 2028.
