Barack Obama took a jab at Donald Trump during his recent appearance on the All the Smoke podcast. Throughout the segment, he avoided mentioning Trump by name, though it was clear who he was referring to.
The former president said that Trump’s behavior is often different when they meet in person. According to him, Trump has always been polite and has never made harsh remarks directly to his face. “He knows better,” the Democrat added.
Obama continued, “I think there is that filter of the phone creates a situation where people just say kind of crazy stuff that they would never say to your face with no consequences.”
The 44th president joked that he has an entire “suite” inside Trump’s head. He said he cannot understand why the president continues to bring him up nearly 10 years after he left office. He also suggested that if he were in Trump’s position, he would be too busy leading the country to spend time talking about a former president.
Obama explained that during his time in office, he was focused on doing his job rather than worrying about what his predecessors were doing or saying. Instead of following every opinion or controversy, he relied on his staff to monitor public concerns. This allowed him to understand what the American people genuinely cared about without becoming emotionally affected by either criticism or praise.
Obama’s remarks came after years of public criticism from Trump, who has frequently targeted him with personal attacks and accusations since before entering the White House.
