Lionel Richie recently performed at the Grand Casino Arena in Minnesota on the opening night of his tour with Earth, Wind & Fire. Entertainment Weekly reported that the 77-year-old told fans he was feeling “dizzy” during the show.

Despite reportedly feeling unwell, Richie tried to keep the audience engaged. While seated during a performance of Dancing on the Ceiling, he joked, “When you are feeling dizzy, sit your a** down.” He then laughed that it was the first time he had ever performed the hit while sitting, adding, “That’s a bad sign, y’all.” He later performed “Three Times a Lady” from behind the piano before the concert paused unexpectedly.

The evening officially ended when saxophonist Dino Soldo addressed the crowd. He explained, “Unfortunately, Lionel is not feeling well. He won’t be able to continue with the show,” while thanking fans for their patience and understanding. At the time of publication, Richie’s representatives and tour promoter Live Nation had not shared any further information, leaving the status of the next scheduled concert in Chicago uncertain.

Lionel Richie has been a music powerhouse for decades. He first made his mark with The Commodores before launching a solo career packed with timeless hits like Hello, All Night Long (All Night), and Say You, Say Me.

With more than 100 million records sold worldwide, Richie has become one of the biggest names in pop music. Younger fans also know him as a longtime American Idol judge. His achievements also include four Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, cementing his place among pop music’s most influential artists.
