Spider-Man Shocker: Unexpected Villain Is Returning in Brand New Day – Report

An unexpected villain from Tom Holland‘s first solo outing as Spider-Man is allegedly returning in Brand New Day, according to new rumors. Notably, the upcoming film includes a decent roster of foes, such as Scorpion and Tombstone.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day rumored to bring back Shocker from Homecoming

The Shocker will be returning in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, according to two new rumors from reputable scoopers.

Daniel RPK shared the news on his Patreon, while MyTimetoShineHello corroborated it on her X (formerly Twitter) handle. The latter wrote, “Shocker will appear in Spider-Man Brand New Day – shocking!”

Needless to say, these are simply rumors as of writing. Neither Marvel nor Sony has confirmed Shocker’s involvement in the highly anticipated sequel. Furthermore, there was no sign of the character in the two trailers that were released. Accordingly, fans must wait until the movie comes out to find out if this holds.

If Shocker does appear, it would make him the second villain from Spider-Man: Homecoming to make a comeback in Brand New Day. Michael Mando‘s Mac Gargan, a.k.a. Scorpion, is already confirmed to be returning from that film and will undoubtedly prove a formidable challenge to the webslinger alongside other confirmed antagonists like Boomerang, Tarantula, Tombstone, The Hand, and the unknown main villain. Supposing Shocker is thrown into the mix, Peter Parker’s challenges in the movie will certainly escalate.

In Homecoming, Shocker’s mantle was held by two individuals: Logan Marshall-Green’s Jackson Brice and Bokeem Woodbine’s Herman Schultz. The former first assumed the identity but was later accidentally killed by Adrian Toomes/Vulture, leading to Schultz taking over. Schultz later ambushed Spider-Man at school before being defeated and arrested by the NYPD.

Meanwhile, Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters in the United States on July 31. Tickets are now on sale.

Destin Daniel Cretton directed from Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, and Justin Kuritzkes‘ screenplay. Tom Holland returns as the title character, while Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, and Mark Ruffalo reprise their MCU roles.
