A new MSG filing has Taylor Swift fans speculating that it might be a clue about her wedding to Travis Kelce. With the assumed nuptials approaching, Swifties are breaking down every update online. However, the couple, who announced their engagement on August 26, 2025, have stayed quiet about the rumors.
Taylor Swift’s wedding buzz gets a boost after MSG permit filing
The chatter around Taylor Swift’s wedding just got louder after an MSG permit filing caught fans’ attention.
According to The New York Times, three anonymous sources confirmed that a permit has been issued allowing street closures near Madison Square Garden in Midtown Manhattan from July 2 until around noon on July 4 for a July 3 event. The outlet also reported that the wedding would take place at the Garden.
Additionally, USA TODAY verified that permits were filed to close city streets near the landmark arena. The approvals also cover an event with capacity for hundreds of attendees. Dora Pekec, a spokesperson for New York City Hall, confirmed that permitting exists, as The Times first reported. City Hall, however, declined to release the actual permit.
The application lists attendance between 500 and 999 people, outdoor tents by Madison Square Garden, and street closures around the venue. Pekec said that the request went through the city’s Street Activity Permit Office. She added that the street-closure permits cover only the immediate area around the Garden, not multiple blocks. “That just means they’re going to put proper protocols to make sure everyone’s safe and can get around,” Pekec explained.
Meanwhile, the venue would also offer privacy for its celebrity guests. It has an underground ramp to the arena that allows discreet access away from cameras.
Furthermore, as per anonymous sources cited by The New York Times, a number of Travis Kelce’s Chiefs teammates have booked stays at the Times Square Marriott Marquis for July 3 and surrounding dates. The hotel is roughly 12 blocks from Madison Square Garden.
