Barack Obama has reflected on the intriguing personalities of his daughters, Sasha and Malia. Both daughters recently made a rare appearance during the grand opening of the Obama Presidential Center.
Barack Obama talks about his daughters Malia and Sasha
In a cover story with PEOPLE, Barack Obama opened up about his cool daughters, Malia and Sasha. He began, “Let me tell you,” before Michelle interrupted him, saying not to get him started. Continuing to praise his children, he added, “They are cooler, smarter, funnier… Those two, Malia and Sasha, are all that.” He revealed how he struggles to catch up with them. Obama elaborated, “If I were their age… I can barely keep up with them at the dinner table now. If I was their contemporary, I would just sit there.”
Further, the former president mentioned that their primary residence is in Washington, DC, and they continue to stay there. This is because he reveals that when their kids are away from home and return after a long time, they want to be with their friends in DC. When Obama was elected as the 44th president of the US, Malia and Sasha were aged 10 and 7, respectively. After moving out of the White House in 2017, the daughters preferred to stay out of the limelight, appearing only in a few major outings and in their parents’ social media posts.
During the presidential center opening ceremony, Michelle gave a shout-out to the siblings. “To our daughters, Malia and Sasha, who will always be my babies. Even though we’re no longer playing hide and seek on the South Lawn with Bo, or hosting sleepovers in the solarium … You both have grown into such brilliant and beautiful young women, making your way out there in the world,” she said. Michelle further appreciated them for bringing joy and spirits into their lives and for making them proud each time.
