Royal author Norman Baker reportedly claims that future British monarch Prince William is not working enough. The royal expert has stated that William is a complete family man. However, when it comes to carrying out royal duties, the Prince of Wales is “workshy.” Based on the report, Baker has complained about William’s attitude and dedication towards his royal responsibilities as the future heir to the throne.
Prince William attendance record in royal duties under criticism
Royal author Norman Baker branded Prince William as “workshy” in an exclusive statement to the Daily Mail. Presenting data to support his claim, Baker stated that between January 1 and June 15 this year, William attended a total of 57 events. Notably, his father King Charles attended 76, while Princess Anne recorded an impressive 100.
Baker also pointed out that William’s lax work attitude has persisted for several years. In 2024, Princess Anne was once again leading the charge with a whopping 474 public duties. This was followed by King Charles with 372. The Prince of Wales, on the other hand, lagged with just 166, less than one every two days.
Baker pointed out: “William has also been noticeably absent from royal events.” He cited that during the traditional Easter service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor in 2025, William and his wife Kate were not present. The royal author explained how William has given crucial events a miss in favour of his family over the years.
Baker retorted: “William has stated firmly that his family must come first. While that is laudable in some ways, is it really possible for the heir to the throne to absent himself from royal duties as he does?”
Moreover, Baker has accused the Prince of Wales of being profit-centric and focusing on making money over royal duties. “Workshy William? Yes, when it comes to undertaking royal duties. But no, when it comes to adding to his already bulging bank account,” the royal author added.
Notably, the royal author lavished praise on King Charles, who has been working hard despite his frail health.
