Model and former soccer player Romeo Beckham will make his acting debut as the star of an upcoming sports movie. Notably, he is the son of former soccer player David Beckham and ex-Spice Girl Victoria Beckham. The news of Romeo’s debut in Forty Love comes amid the ongoing FIFA Soccer World Cup.
Romeo Beckham stars in tennis romance movie
David Beckham’s second son will star in a tennis romance movie titled Forty Love. The film is not only his first acting gig, but also the first directorial venture of celebrated fashion photographer Pierre-Ange Carlotti.
According to a Variety report, Hugo Sélignac and Paco de Bary are producing the movie via Mediawan’s Chi-Fou-Mi Productions. Studiocanal and Manna Studios are co-producing. Additionally, Carolotti wrote the screenplay with Gaëlle Macé.
The above-mentioned outlet reports that the film follows Sacha Gallo, a tennis superstar, who encounters an enigmatic new rival, portrayed by Romeo Beckham, while training in Paris with his father. Sparks fly as Sacha begins to reflect on his beliefs and ambition.
The synopsis reportedly reads, “For the first time, he [Sacha] faces an opponent of an entirely different nature — love. A force as exhilarating as it is destabilizing — and far more dangerous than anything he has encountered on the court.”
Besides Romeo Beckham, the cast includes Paul Kircher as Sacha, Guillaume Canet, Benjamin Voisin, and Catherine Deneuve.
Speaking on the collaboration, Hugo Sélignac noted that he had “long admired [Carlotti’s] work as a photographer.” He continued, “There is a rare tenderness, melancholy, and strength in his images, and his move into directing felt like a natural next step to me.”
Sélignac proceeded to hail the movie as a “sensual, romantic and deeply moving romantic fable and coming-of-age story” that deals with the “demands of high-level sport, and everything that lies beneath the surface … led by outstanding performances.”
StudioCanal is in charge of the worldwide sales. Forty Love will premiere in France on November 25, 2026, but it’s unclear when it will come out in the US.
