Piers Morgan Doesn’t Think Donald Trump Should Present World Cup Trophy

English broadcaster Piers Morgan isn’t a fan of Donald Trump presenting the World Cup trophy to the winners, but wants his son Barron to do so. It was previously reported that FIFA might be considering the President as its ultimate choice to present the trophy to the World Cup winners. Previously, he also presented the trophy to the FIFA Club World Cup winners, Chelsea.

The Piers Morgan Live host does not want the POTUS to present the World Cup trophy to the winners, but favors his youngest son taking on that responsibility.

Piers Morgan recently spoke to talkSPORT and denounced the idea of Donald Trump handing out the trophy. He stated, “I think it would be hugely popular if England were to win the trophy, if Trump wrestled the World Cup of Harry Kane and began to do a little conga. I think everyone in Britain would share my view that would be absolutely magnificent!”

Morgan further joked that Trump might be reminiscing about the time he handed the Club World Cup trophy to Chelsea. “No! I think it’s got the potential to be quite embarrassing.”

However, the veteran journalist stated that instead of Trump, his son Barron would be an apt choice to take over the task. Morgan stressed the love for soccer that the 20-year-old has and quipped, “If he’s not, his son Barron loves football. He’s actually an Arsenal fan. I think he will quietly have a word with the old man and say, ‘Look, Dad, should you get the trophy anywhere near you, don’t try and grab it.'”

Notably, if FIFA decides to proceed with Donald Trump delivering the trophy presentation, the organization would be breaking a long-standing protocol. During the Club World Cup, he broke the tradition by carrying the trophy to the Chelsea captain, Reece James. Trump also stayed with the team as they celebrated their victory.

Meanwhile, the protocol states that a member of the winning team carries the trophy to the celebration podium. Nevertheless, according to another report by talkSPORT, there has been no decision regarding this yet.
