The sophomore installment of a Western romantic drama led by Josh Duhamel is coming to Netflix soon. Season 1 premiered a year ago and became an instant hit after drawing massive viewership. Following its debut, Ransom Canyon reportedly secured the top spot on the Top 10 list of streaming analytics charts, making fans excited for Season 2.
Ransom Canyon Season 2 comes out on Netflix in July
Ransom Canyon Season 2 is launching on Netflix on July 23, 2026, roughly one year and three months after Season 1 arrived.
The previous entry of Josh Duhamel’s series premiered on April 17, 2025. It consists of 10 episodes, all of which premiered in bulk. While Season 1 became a streaming hit, it received a mixed-to-negative critical reception.
On Rotten Tomatoes, Season 1 holds a rotten 45% critical approval rating but a more robust 72% audience score. Meanwhile, Metacritic has assigned it a Metascore of 58, which denotes “mixed or average” reception.
Based on Jodi Thomas’ book series of the same name, Ransom Canyon takes place in a small Texas town. Set against the backdrop of warring ranching family dynasties and outside forces threatening to complicate matters, the story follows stoic rancher, Staten Kirkland.
Recovering from a personal tragedy, Staten finds solace in his longtime family friend, Quinn O’Grady, the owner of the local dance hall. While the two work to save their home, they realize and confront the growing romantic spark between them.
Season 2 picks up six months after its predecessor ended, with Quinn, a concert pianist, leaving for New York to pursue her dreams. During her six-month period in the city, she does not keep in touch with Staten, who misses her terribly but hides that fact.
After Quinn returns, Staten realizes he made some mistakes and sets out to rectify them. He tries to reclaim his family legacy after being unseated as the trustee of his family’s Double K Ranch. Meanwhile, Quinn struggles to choose between Ransom and a future in New York City.
Josh Duhamel, Minka Kelly, Lizzy Greene, Garrett Wareing, and Marianly Tejada are returning for Ransom Canyon Season 2. Also reprising their roles are Casey W. Johnson, Tatanka Means, Justin Johnson Cortez, Kenny Miller, Phillip Winchester, Jennifer Ens, Brett Cullen, Lauren Glazier, and Niko Guardado.
Meanwhile, new additions to the cast include Steve Howey, Patricia Clarkson, Ben Robson, and Heidi Engerman.
