According to an insider, Markle believes the couple needs to scale back expenses and make tougher financial decisions as they manage the rising costs associated with their California lifestyle and business ventures.

According to In Touch Weekly, Meghan Markle has taken the lead in reviewing her and Prince Harry’s household and professional spending, with staffing costs among the first areas under scrutiny. A source said she wants to start by cutting payroll costs.
“They’ve cut their staff several times before, but she’s now saying they need to let more people go — Meghan just feels they are spending too much,” the insider said. “It will mean they both need to do more to pick up the slack.” According to the source, the As Ever founder believes they are spending more than necessary and wants to reduce expenses wherever possible.
In December, Page Six reported that the couple’s organization had let go of about 60% of its charity staff. A spokesperson confirmed the layoffs and said they happened as the Archewell Foundation rebranded to Archewell Philanthropies.
The spokesperson said, “Some staff redundancies are inevitable,” and added that the organization would not discuss personnel matters further. According to an insider, other proposed changes could affect Harry more directly.
The source claims Markle is also questioning the cost of Harry’s frequent trips to the United Kingdom. The Duke of Sussex has continued to travel back and forth for charity commitments and family-related matters despite his ongoing estrangement from several members of the royal family following his and Markle’s departure from royal duties in 2020.
According to the insider, the “Suits” alum sees little value in spending large sums on travel when the visits have done little to repair damaged relationships. The source also claims she wants Harry to be more cautious with personal spending.
