Popular Netflix TV Show Moves to Hulu After 7 Seasons

A popular Netflix TV show that ran for seven seasons has now moved to Hulu. According to reports, Hulu acquired the show after Netflix declined to renew the reality competition series following the conclusion of its seventh season in October 2024.

What Netflix TV show is moving to Hulu?

The Circle is the Netflix TV show making the move to Hulu. The move comes after a Walt Disney Television representative shared their plan to make a “concentrated” push into the serialized competition space in April.

The social experiment format was one of the streamer’s first hits in the reality competition space and even spawned versions in France and Brazil. It was originally premiered on Channel 4 in the UK, running for three seasons before a US version was launched by Netflix in 2020. Six additional seasons followed before Netflix ultimately chose not to renew the series.

The Hulu version will feature celebrity contestants competing alongside civilians, unlike the Netflix version, which only featured the latter. The Circle on Hulu will also introduce audience voting in the U.S. and will be filmed in real time, giving viewers access as twists and player ratings unfold. Per Deadline, The Circle is being “reimagined” as a “fast-turnaround” social experiment.

While the Netflix TV show was described as a Catfish-meets-Black Mirror social experiment, the Hulu version will have celebrities and civilians compete side-by-side in a game of popularity. It will see contestants move into separate apartments in the same building, where they will be isolated from each other and allowed to communicate via a particular app using photos and text. However, contestants can choose whether to present themselves authentically or adopt an entirely different persona.

Susan House, who executive-produced the Netflix version, will serve as the showrunner for the show on Hulu. It is being backed by Studio Lambert, Motion Entertainment, and Omaha Productions.

A premiere date for The Circle on Hulu has yet to be announced.
