Sydney Sweeney’s Take on Zendaya Feud Rumors Says Plenty

Sydney Sweeney’s response about her feud with Zendaya put the spotlight back on the “Euphoria” cast and rumor cycle. Sweeney said, “social media and the press spin things” when asked about reported cast drama.

A new interview showed her rejecting claims that schedules delayed the HBO drama’s third season. The comments came after another source claimed Sweeney and Zendaya kept their distance during promotion. That claim once again fueled the feud narrative.

Sydney Sweeney says social media and press pushed Zendaya and ‘Euphoria’ cast feud narratives

As per a Vanity Fair interview dated June 9, 2026, Sydney Sweeney addressed the reported “Euphoria” delays directly. She said the Euphoria cast “all grew up together on this show.” However, she called it “honestly crazy” to watch outside narratives build. The “Anyone But You” actress added, “social media and the press spin things.” Then, she explained her HBO commitment. Sweeney said she was in “first position” for “Euphoria,” meaning the show came before other work.

The quote also answered claims that Sydney Sweeney’s schedule affected the series. She said HBO could say, “Hey, this is the first day of filming.” Then, she added, “I’m legally not allowed to do anything else.” Because of that, she said, “My schedule doesn’t affect the show.” The actress added it was “funny” to see people “spin narratives on it.” She also said, “All of us were in first position,” denying any holdup in cast scheduling.

For context, a report claimed tensions between Zendaya and Sweeney were “nothing new.” The same report cited an LA-based source alleging the pair “do not get on.” It also claimed interactions were kept “to a minimum” during the press. However, Sweeney’s Vanity Fair comments pointed elsewhere. She said, “Not everybody reads an article,” and “people like headlines.” Still, the feud talk sat beside her actual “Euphoria” ending. The Euphoria cast wrapped Cassie, Rue, Nate, and Maddy’s stories in the finale. Sweeney said she was “so happy” with her coworkers and roles.
