With Donald Trump refusing to back down from accusing the Democratic Party of cheating in the recent California election, the state’s sitting Governor, Gavin Newsom, has come out to hit back at the president. The former San Francisco mayor took to social media to slam Trump’s latest social media rant, calling him a “sore loser” for his continued outbursts.
Gavin Newsom calls out Donald Trump’s comment on California election
On June 8, the official X (formerly Twitter) account of Gavin Newsom’s press office posted a sneering reply to Trump’s late-night tirade about the California gubernatorial election.
Through a Truth Social post, the POTUS once again berated Democrats for supposedly cheating in the voting process without presenting any evidence of his outlandish claims. He wrote, “Has anybody been watching the CROOKED Election going on in California. Two great Republican Candidates are being cheated, and so is America, which if the Dumocrats are able to fulfill their mission, great trouble and consternation will follow. Watch this “Election” closely!!!”
In response to Donald Trump’s baseless rant, Gavin Newsom’s press office mocked the president by calling him a loser and cheekily alluding to his alleged habit of falling asleep during official conferences. “There isn’t a bigger sore loser in the country. Back to bed grandpa!” the tweet read.
Notably, Donald Trump had blasted the Democratic Party for swindling in the California gubernatorial election last week through his Truth Social account. The president claimed that his opposing political faction was “trying to steal the governor of California primary.” In a subsequent update, he noted that there was “big cheating by the Dumocrats in California,” but failed to provide any proof of his claims.
Newsom responded in a similar fashion, writing, “Trump is lying about California again – time to take the phone away from grandpa and put him to sleep.”
