A reboot of the 1999 horror classic The Blair Witch Project has set its release date. The reboot has been in development for many years.
When is the release date window for The Blair Witch Project reboot?
The new Blair Witch Project reboot will be released in 2027. No specific release date has been announced. The update comes from Jason Blum on IndieWire’s Screen Talk (via Bloody Disgusting). When asked about his next films as a producer, Blum noted, “They’re both coming out next year. Blair Witch and Paranormal.”
Producer James Wan also told IndieWire, “Getting all the original people that were involved in the original Blair Witch, getting their blessing and getting them involved. That was very important for all of us. We wanted to pay respect to the legacy of it all.”
Dylan Clark is directing The Blair Witch Project reboot, from a screenplay he rewrote based on an original draft by Chris Devlin. The filmmaker is best known for his horror short films like Catcher, Storytime, and Hatched. Clark is also attached to direct a feature adaptation of his 2022 short, Portrait of God, to be produced by Sam Raimi and Jordan Peele.

The new Blair Witch movie is being produced by Blum and Wan, joined by Roy Lee, Adam Hendricks, and Greg Gilreath. Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams, stars of the original Blair Witch Project, will serve as executive producers. Steven Schneider, Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Alayna Glasthal, Eduardo Sánchez, Daniel Myrick, and Gregg Hale will executive produce the film.
The upcoming Blair Witch Project reboot will focus on a “family that goes on a camping trip but goes missing one by one after they hear strange noises in the forest.” No other story details have been revealed for the film.
