“Through friends, for sure,” she explained. According to the songwriter, being introduced through mutual friends comes with built-in reassurance. She joked that friends can confirm a person is trustworthy. This also makes it more likely that the two people will have something in common from the start.
That does not mean she has completely given up on the idea of a romantic meet-cute, though. Rodrigo admitted that she has often imagined meeting someone unexpectedly while traveling. She talked about sitting next to a cute stranger on an airplane, only to discover they were reading the same book. In her mind, it sounds like the perfect conversation starter. “Unfortunately,” she said, “that’s never happened to me.”
The conversation also turned to first dates, and Rodrigo’s dream outing proved to be just as low-key. The “drivers license” hitmaker said she would choose “something simple,” starting with dinner before heading to a comedy show.
