The Scream 7 star Anna Camp has found her next major film project. She is set to headline Serpent, an upcoming psychological thriller based on a novel by bestselling author Warren Adler. The adaptation will bring one of Adler’s lesser-known suspense stories to the screen and mark Camp’s latest venture into the thriller genre.
Anna Camp joins movie adaptation of Warren Adler’s Serpent
According to Deadline, Anna Camp has officially joined the cast of Serpent, an upcoming thriller based on a novel by Warren Adler. In addition to taking on a leading role, Camp will also serve as an executive producer on the project, which is being developed by Adler Entertainment Trust and K7 Storytellers.
Adapted from Adler’s novel The Serpent’s Bite, the film centers on a family reunion that takes a dark turn during a remote trek through Wyoming. An actress attempting to reconnect with her father and brother finds herself in an increasingly volatile situation as years of resentment and unresolved conflicts begin to surface. As the trip unfolds, the family gathering turns into an increasingly tense and dangerous confrontation.
The feature will be directed by Thomas Marchese, who wrote the screenplay alongside Jessub Flower. The project marks another collaboration between Marchese and Camp after the pair previously worked together on From Black. Michael Adler, Jonathan Adler, and Madeline Adler are attached as executive producers for Adler Entertainment Trust. Meanwhile, Kelly Frazier will oversee production for K7 Storytellers.
Discussing the project, Michael and Jonathan Adler said, “With Thomas Marchese’s visceral directorial vision and Anna Camp’s incredible depth as an actor, Serpent is going to bring that tension to life in a way that modern thriller audiences won’t forget.” Camp’s involvement comes shortly after her appearance in Scream 7 and her dual-role performance in the final season of You.
More details are expected as the film moves forward in production.
