A new report suggests that King Charles and Queen Camilla may be absent from an upcoming royal wedding. The vows, scheduled to take place on June 6, will unite Peter Phillips with his fiancée, Harriet Sperling.

King Charles and Queen Camilla could miss the royal wedding of Peter Phillips to Harriet Sperling. The couple will attend Derby Day at Epsom Downs racecourse that same day, marking their first appearance as monarchs. The announcement came on Friday. They are now joint patrons of The Jockey Club, which runs the Surrey racecourse, a role held by Queen Elizabeth II for 68 years.
Queen Elizabeth missed the iconic race just twice between 1952 and the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. “We are honoured and thrilled that The King and Queen will be joining us at Epsom Downs on Derby Day,” said Jim Allen, General Manager of Epsom Downs Racecourse. “Their Majesties show great enthusiasm, interest, and support for horse racing in the UK, and their attendance next week will be a proud moment for all of the team here and everyone connected with the racecourse,” Allen continued.
Peter Phillips is Princess Anne’s son, so King Charles and Queen Camilla are expected at his wedding. However, their commitment to Epsom Downs means they’ll probably miss the post-wedding reception.
Phillips has close ties with the Prince and Princess of Wales. The Edinburgh family is also on the guest list. According to Hello!, other invitees likely at All Saints Church in Cirencester include Peter’s ex-stepparents, Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips. His stepfather, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, should be there as well. Zara Tindall and her husband Mike Tindall will probably join them.
The ceremony, however, will not include Prince Harry, Sarah Ferguson, and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
A friend said that Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling’s wedding will be an intimate Cotswolds ceremony with close friends and immediate family. The area holds special meaning for them as the place where they grew up.
