Donald Trump is reportedly getting a lot of health checks, and Dr. Mehmet Oz now says there is a simple reason for it. The celebrity physician heading Medicare under the Trump administration has stepped forward to explain why the president undergoes frequent medical examinations, pushing back against concerns over Trump’s health at 79.
Dr. Oz shares reason behind Donald Trump’s regular health checkups
Speaking to reporters at the White House briefing room, Dr. Mehmet Oz said Donald Trump’s appetite for health data reflects his personality rather than any medical concern. “I do actually believe that he is curious to make sure everything is going in the right direction,” the physician said. “He’s a very meticulous person in so many ways that are often under-appreciated.”
He also drew on a personal reference, recalling that Trump appeared on his television show a decade ago. “I was stunned at how well he was going,” Dr. Oz said, adding that Trump’s numbers were “spectacular.” When asked why a healthy person would need so many checkups, he stated, “I think he likes the results.”
He also framed the president as physically capable, describing him as a “vessel” of strength. “You have to have a vessel to carry it, and the President has the ability to keep going at all hours of the day with remarkable strength,” Dr. Oz told the room.
The comments came days after Trump had his fourth known medical examination since returning to office. The report released by his personal physician late on a Friday night stated Trump was in “excellent health,” but it did not include the actual results of the diagnostic tests — an omission that has been scrutinized.
Trump, who turns 80 on June 14, is the oldest person ever inaugurated as U.S. president. Questions about his health have grown louder in recent months, with observers pointing to visible bruising on his hands, swollen ankles, and him sleeping during official events.
