Joe Biden’s wife, Jill Biden, has reportedly come under fire for her statement in her new memoir. A political journalist, Nia-Malika Henderson, has recently slammed the former first lady, accusing her of helping hide growing concerns about her husband’s health during his time in office.
Jill Biden criticized after release of new memoir
Nia-Malika Henderson, a former CNN political reporter, has called out former First Lady Jill Biden’s new memoir, “View From the East Wing.” In her Bloomberg Opinion column, published on Friday, Henderson labelled the book as “an act of supreme selfishness.”
Henderson accused Jill of repeatedly insisting that her husband, Joe, was fit for office despite being aware of his health and fitness concerns. “With her memoir, Biden has essentially confirmed the speculation that she was part of a cover-up,” the journalist wrote.
The former CNN reporter also cited excerpts from the memoir that detailed Biden’s June 2024 presidential debate against Donald Trump. According to the excerpts, Jill said that she feared that Joe’s struggle during the debate could be the result of a stroke. The educator/author wrote, “Is this a stroke? I felt like we were watching an AI hologram of the man we knew, and the hologram was glitching. Has he been drugged?”
Henderson called out Jill for being aware that the former president “was definitely aging” while he was still in office. She said that the former first lady’s recent admissions in the book are in direct contradiction to repeated assurances from Biden allies about his cognitive abilities.
However, Jill emphasized in her memoir that the former president’s debate performance was not reflective of his usual state. In response, Henderson wrote, “There is no reason to believe Jill Biden’s most recent public version of events.”
The political journalist further stated, “The debate only underscored what Americans had been telling the Biden cohort for years: that the president was no longer up to the task.” She also wrote, “In their arrogance, privilege and self-important recklessness, the Bidens held on to power as long as they could.”
