KSI has left his ardent fans stunned after sharing a major update about his future with the Sidemen. The YouTube star, whose real name is Olajide Olatunji, revealed that he is stepping away from the hugely successful content collective after more than a decade. The announcement marks the end of an era for the group, which has become one of the biggest names on YouTube since its formation in 2013.
KSI announces exit from the Sidemen
In an emotional video, KSI reflected on the incredible journey he shared with the Sidemen. He also opened up about the difficult decision, saying, “This is honestly the hardest video I’ve ever had to make in my life. I’ve gone back and forth on this decision for a very long time. I’ve spent months trying to figure out what the right thing to do is.”
The 32-year-old then confirmed the news of his sad departure. KSI elaborated on this, saying, “After a lot of thought, I’ve decided that I will no longer be doing Sidemen videos. Today, 31 May, will be my final Sidemen video.”
He admitted that even saying those words aloud did not feel real, given how significant the group has been throughout his life. Reflecting on the bond he shares with his fellow Sidemen members, KSI described the collective as “my second family.”
KSI added, “We’ve grown up together. We’ve travelled the world together. We built something that none of us ever thought was possible.” The celebrated YouTuber also looked back on the group’s humble beginnings, recalling the early days when they were simply creating videos and playing “Grand Theft Auto” together.
Furthermore, KSI also went on to celebrate the group’s achievements, telling his fans that, “Together we’ve done things I never thought were possible. We’ve sold out arenas, we sold out stadiums. We’ve broken records.” He also stated that they had made Netflix shows together.
He also expressed gratitude for the friendships formed over the years, saying he had watched his fellow members grow into husbands and fathers. While KSI’s departure marks a major turning point for the Sidemen, his message made it clear that the relationships built over the last 13 years will stay with him forever.
