Speaking with PEOPLE at the 2026 MOCA Gala, Keanu Reeves and Alexandra Grant discussed how their relationship has affected their art. When asked whether Grant is an easy woman to love, Reeves did not hesitate with his answer. He said, “Yes.”
Grant then explained how her relationship with Reeves has influenced her paintings over the years. “That’s a big question. I would say that all painting is autobiographical, even though maybe even in abstraction it doesn’t look like there’s a big narrative, but I would definitely say that my paintings become happier,” she said.
Grant added that the impact of their relationship on her work is impossible to ignore. “It’s undeniable. I have to admit that,” she elaborated. Reeves, however, was less certain when asked whether the relationship had changed his own work. He said, “I don’t know if it has.”
The couple also spoke about their support for the Museum of Contemporary Art. Grant said, “We are here to support MOCA because we love this museum, and in 2007 [former senior curator at MOMA] Alma Ruiz gave me my first solo show here at MOCA, so I have a long history of coming to the museum and supporting them and we want the museum to have a rich and really culturally significant future.”
Grant continued, “We are big supporters of this museum and Ann Goldstein, and everyone who’s doing everything to make it remain such an important museum in Los Angeles and the world.”
The couple has been together since 2019. They first connected through the book Ode to Happiness. While Reeves remains private about his personal life. His latest comments offered a rare glimpse into his relationship with Grant.
Their shared passion for creativity remains a key part of their relationship. Their mutual respect and support for the arts remain important as well.
