Sydney Sweeney recently spoke about Cassie Howard’s fate in the Euphoria Season 3 finale in HBO Max’s behind-the-scenes featurette. Sweeney broke down emotionally when she first learned how Cassie’s story would end. “I broke down when I read Cassie’s ending,” Sweeney said in the post-episode segment.

The finale, titled “In God We Trust,” aired on HBO on Sunday, May 31. Cassie’s husband, Nate Jacobs, died in the penultimate episode after a snake bit him. Sweeney’s character now faces life alone in their mansion with mounting debt. The episode shows Cassie sitting teary-eyed beside her ring light after losing Nate.

Cassie and Maddy Perez team up in the finale to build an OnlyFans venture together. They plan to rent bedrooms in Cassie and Nate’s house to other OnlyFans models. Cassie pitches the idea to her sister Lexi, but Lexi declines to participate. Creator Sam Levinson described the Cassie and Maddy relationship as the season’s central love story.

“They’ve been through so much together,” Levinson said in the behind-the-scenes breakdown. “All they really got is each other and a whole bunch of debt.”

Sweeney also bid farewell to the show on Instagram with behind-the-scenes photos. She captioned the post with three words that captured her experience perfectly. “It’s called… acting,” Sweeney wrote alongside set photos spanning the entire season. The carousel included snapshots from Cassie and Nate’s wedding scenes and the strip club sequences.

HBO confirmed that Euphoria has officially ended with Season 3 after Levinson’s announcement. Sweeney’s portrayal of Cassie generated significant conversation throughout the season’s run. Her character’s arc took Cassie from suburban bride to OnlyFans entrepreneur across eight episodes.

All seasons of Euphoria are now streaming on HBO Max.
