Celine Dion, who has become synonymous with James Cameron‘s Titanic for vocalizing the movie’s beloved theme song, My Heart Will Go On, is officially getting a dedicated television series. The biopic project will showcase Dion’s formative years with her family, which eventually guided her to the summit of the singing industry.
Celine Dion’s biopic series is in the works
According to a recent report published by Deadline, LA’s Diamant Rouge Entertainment is bringing forth a show that will provide a dramatic take on the life journey of Celine Dion.
Growing Up Dion, which is the working title for the project, has received the green light from Dion’s family, with her brother Jacques Dion producing the series. Additionally, the series will draw inspiration from the novel Dion, A Family Saga, written by Dion’s nephew, Jimmy.
While the studio has yet to reveal any updates regarding who’ll play the Queen of Power Ballads, Zoë Green, of Sirens and Carnival Row fame, has been roped in as the showrunner for the project. The series will follow Celine Dion’s childhood in Quebec, encapsulating her younger years in a music-loving household. The show will also explore the five-time Grammy winner’s close relationship with her mother, along with the dynamics she shared with her 14 siblings.
Describing the series, Celine’s brother Jacques Dion noted, “This series represents something deeply meaningful for our family, as it captures the spirit, struggles, and love that defined our upbringing. We are proud to finally share this story with the world in a way that feels true to who we are.”
The 58-year-old singer has been battling with Stiff Person Syndrome for some time now. However, the My Heart Will Go On singer seems to have regained her health in recent times and will return to the stage later this year in Paris. This would mark the first time that Dion will headline a concert since her comeback performance in the 2024 Olympics.
