The much-awaited Italian animated comedy series, My 2 Cents, was finally released on Netflix following a one-of-a-kind fan event in Rome. The convention featured an unexpected number of attendees, who engaged in several interactive activities on their way to the preview of the first three episodes of the Zerocalcare series.
My 2 Cents premieres on Netflix after massive fan event
On May 24, Netflix organized the “INSERT DUE SPICCI” fan event to celebrate the release of the satirical animated show created, written, and directed by fan-favorite Roman cartoonist, Zerocalcare.
A huge number of fans of the Zerocalcare universe made their way to the event taking place at the historical Circo Massimo. The convention had hundreds of arcade stations, which allowed attendees to engage in a select catalog of classic ’80s and ’90s titles as well as themed photo ops.
In addition to the retro gaming frenzy, the My 2 Cents Netflix premiere event also featured a customized game made specifically for the occasion. The collective adventure had characters and a setting from Zerocalcare’s Rome and required players to accumulate one billion points, one checkpoint after another, to get to the preview screening of the first three episodes of the show.
Per Netflix, more than 10,000 fans reportedly locked in together to play the video game, followed by energetic performances by Coez and Giancane. The duo played both of their songs in the Due Spicci soundtrack, with Coez playing his new single, “Ci vuole una laurea,” and Giancane breaking into the series’ theme song, “Non ti riconosco più.” Furthermore, the massive fan event featured a surprise appearance by Rancore.
Conceptualized and executed by Zerocalcare, Netflix’s My 2 Cents revolves around the misadventures of the two small business owners, Zero and Cinghiale. However, things begin to unravel when financial struggles and the intricacies of their personal lives start to come in their way. The faltering situation gets worse after the arrival of a ghost from Zero’s past, forcing the friends to undertake some difficult decisions.
