Meghan Markle Wanted To Share ‘Message’ With Anniversary Posts — Expert

Meghan Markle flooded her Instagram this week with two anniversary posts, featuring wedding photos — and a PR expert claims that the move was calculated. On the eighth anniversary of her marriage to Prince Harry, the Duchess of Sussex shared 24 images from the 2018 ceremony at St George’s Chapel, followed by videos from home that showed Harry and their children surprising her with a cake and a penguin sculpture. The sweet gesture was a nod to a costume the couple once wore to a party.

Meghan Markle’s anniversary posts were her attempt to ‘reconnect with audiences’, claims expert

Under her anniversary posts on Instagram, Meghan Markle wrote, “Eight years ago today…,” crediting “wonderful” photographer Chris Allerton. The posts drew immediate reaction — but much of it was critical.

Nick Ede, a brand and culture expert, told the Daily Express that the Duchess of Sussex’s “anniversary posting spree was clearly designed to humanise her brand and reconnect with audiences on a more intimate, emotional level.”

Moreover, Ede saw an alleged idea inside the warmth. He said, “I do think she was trying to communicate a message. The posts seemed intended to say: ‘We’re happy and deeply in love despite everything that’s been written about us.’”

The PR expert also highlighted, “Family content is incredibly powerful online because it creates emotional engagement.” However, he put Markle’s online presence into perspective, noting, “but it’s also risky when you’ve previously spoken publicly about privacy and protecting children from media exposure.”

Notably, just days before the anniversary posts, Meghan Markle gave an impactful speech in Geneva at the Lost Screen Memorial. She urged world health leaders to act on children’s online safety. Markle also described young people as being shaped by systems “designed to capture attention at any cost.” Thus, the same person who then posts videos of her own children allegedly opens herself to charges of contradiction.

Nick Ede’s point was that Markle probably knew this and went ahead anyway. He allegedly guessed that the public’s hunger for a happy, intact family portrait would outweigh the criticism.
