Blake Lively’s Controversial Movie To Stream on Hulu After Netflix Exit

Hulu will soon become the new streaming home of the 2024 romantic drama, It Ends with Us, starring Blake Lively. The film is based on Coleen Hoover’s best-selling book of the same name and became a huge hit at the box office, though it then became a subject of controversy due to legal proceedings surrounding it.

It Ends with Us streams on Hulu in June

It Ends with Us will premiere on Hulu on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, per an official listing. This is the same day the film is leaving Netflix.

Justin Baldoni directed the movie adaptation from a screenplay by Christy Hall. He also stars in the film alongside Blake Lively and co-produced it through his company, Wayfarer Studios, in collaboration with Columbia Pictures.

It Ends with Us centers on Lily Bloom, a young woman who owns a flower business in Boston. There she meets a charismatic neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid. The two hit it off and eventually fall in love. As their relationship progresses, Lily begins to see the troubling side of Ryle. Meanwhile, she also runs into her ex-boyfriend, Atlas Corrigan. Ryle then becomes increasingly jealous of Atlas, leading to violent confrontations.

The movie’s cast features Blake Lively as Lily, Baldoni as Ryle, Brandon Sklenar as Atlas, Hasan Minhaj as Marshall, Jenny Slate as Allysa, Kevin McKidd as Andrew, Amy Morton as Jenny, and Emily Baldoni as Dr. Julie, among others.

Sony Pictures Releasing handled the film’s distribution, debuting it in theaters on August 9, 2024. Upon release, it received a mixed-to-positive reception. Critics gave it an average rating of 55% on Rotten Tomatoes, while audiences gave it a much higher score of 87%.

Despite the mixed critical reception, It Ends with Us went on to make approximately $351.4 million at the global box office. This is quite impressive, given that it reportedly had a modest budget of $23-25 million.

The massive commercial success also followed several publicized lawsuits between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. However, the legal issues surrounding the film appear to have now been settled.
