During the final episode of The Late Show, Stephen Colbert played “Colbert Questionert,” when his wife, Evie McGee, posed a question about his favorite smell. He initially responded, “Oh, ok. Well, that’s a good one for you. Oh, you’re not going to like the answer.”
McGee then asked for the name of the scent. Colbert explained that whenever they are about to go somewhere, she usually heads upstairs first to get ready, joking that she takes more time. He continued that when he walks to the top of the stairs, McGee is usually already out of the shower, and the scent of the lotion she uses after her bath is his favorite smell.
When he asked her for the name of the lotion, she revealed it was kai*rose body lotion. Spicing up the conversation further, Colbert added, “And I know that you are in there wearing very little.” The remark immediately made McGee blush and laugh as the audience hooted.
Colbert first crossed paths with McGee in a theater lobby, and the moment he saw her, he knew she was the right partner for him. At the time, he had gone to the theater to watch the musical Hydrogen Jukebox.
The couple tied the knot in 1993. They share two sons and one daughter named Peter, John, and Madeline. They have also extended their bond professionally, having collaborated on projects including starting a production company, Spartina Industries, together and writing a cookbook, Does This Taste Funny?
