One of the stars of the upcoming Digger, starring Tom Cruise, revealed what they thought of it. Having seen one of the cuts, they promised that fans can expect a brilliant movie. Heading into theaters later this year, it marks the Hollywood veteran’s return to the comedy genre following his participation in action-oriented films in recent years.

Sandra Hüller says she has seen a version of Digger

Sandra Hüller, who will appear opposite Tom Cruise in Digger, was impressed by the rough cut she saw.

While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter about her recent film slate, the Project Hail Mary star admitted she couldn’t contain her excitement to talk about the movie. Revealing she couldn’t discuss it due to having signed an NDA, Hüller added that she saw a “version [of it]” that is likely not the final one. She continued, “And that it impresses me beyond anything I’ve ever seen. And that’s all I can say. I think it’s going to be a remarkable film.”

The film, described as “a comedy of catastrophic proportions,” will premiere in regular and IMAX theaters on October 2, 2026. Its first teaser debuted during Warner Bros.’ presentation at CinemaCon. The story follows the titular protagonist, Digger Rockwell, the most powerful man in the world, who unleashes a very threatening disaster. This prompts him to go on a race against time to prove to humanity that he is their savior before what he released destroys everything.

For the role, Tom Cruise underwent a dramatic transformation. He reportedly achieved his look through a combination of diet change, makeup, and prosthetics. Moreover, for his performance, he has adopted a distinct accent.

Alejandro G. Iñárritu, known for Birdman and The Revenant, directed the movie. He also co-wrote the screenplay with Alexander Dinelaris, Nicolás Giacobone, and Sabina Berman. Additionally, he co-produced with Cruise and Mary Parent.

Apart from Cruise and Hüller, Digger features Riz Ahmed, Jesse Plemons, John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg, Sophie Wilde, Emma D’Arcy, Robert John Burke, Pip Torrens, and Burn Gorman.
